Aruna Ghatak-Roy helps technology companies develop IP strategies that support the way they build, grow and compete. She connects a deep understanding of technology with practical business judgment to help clients protect their innovations and advance their commercial objectives.
Aruna’s technical perspective is grounded in her experience as an electrical engineer at Intel and her work across semiconductors, hardware, software and AI. She works closely with inventors to understand how an innovation operates, identify its distinguishing features and translate complex engineering into a clear foundation for patent protection.
As a U.S. patent attorney and Of Counsel at Spraggins Law Group, Aruna brings experience as Assistant General Counsel at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), fractional General Counsel to emerging businesses, and Founder, Vice President, & Chief Legal Officer of Archality. Her work spans patent development and prosecution, IP portfolio strategy, open-source licensing, technology transactions and strategic partnerships. Having advised established companies and helped build an emerging business, she understands how legal decisions affect product development, investment and commercialization. She draws on those perspectives to align IP advice with each client’s business objectives, resources and stage of growth.
Aruna earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D., cum laude, from Lewis & Clark Law School.
Outside of her legal practice, Aruna enjoys spending time with her family.
